Why your website isn't getting visits (and what you can check)
Your site has been online for weeks, maybe months. Days go by and almost nothing happens. Before assuming it "doesn't work", it's worth figuring out which of three real causes applies.
First cause: the site isn't even visible
The simplest thing to check: search your business name on Google. If even that doesn't show up, your site likely has a basic problem — it hasn't been read or indexed. Dig deeper in crawlers and indexing.
Second cause: it's visible, but for the wrong searches
The site is there, Google knows about it, but it doesn't show up for the searches that bring real customers — only for the business name, which anyone who doesn't already know you will never type. This is the most common case, and the hardest to notice on your own. Dig deeper in keywords.
Third cause: people arrive, but don't find what they're looking for
Sometimes there's traffic, but it doesn't convert: people arrive and leave right away because the page doesn't clearly say what you offer, for whom, and what to do next. This isn't a visibility problem, it's a clarity problem — the same principle explained in why ChatGPT doesn't mention your business also applies to a human visitor.
Zero visits doesn't mean the site is wrong. It means you need to figure out which of the three causes applies, before changing anything blindly.
How to figure out which one applies to you
Three quick checks, in order: search your business name on Google (first cause); look at whether you have data on which searches bring any visits at all, even a few (second cause); show your homepage to someone unfamiliar with it and ask them, after ten seconds, to tell you what you do (third cause).
